Please introduce yourself?

My name is Tiara. I am 23 years old and I live in Geelong. I am a singer songwriter.

How would you describe the genre of music you play?

I would describe my genre as RnB/Hip Hop/ Soul/Pop.

Can you tell us about your musical journey to this point, when did you start performing etc?

Music has always been a huge passion of mine. I started singing (tried to sing) at the age of 3. I come from a musical family and was brought up surrounded by music. My mother and father both played guitar and sang. When I was little we used to jam altogether for fun. Music has always been a huge part of my life. It has always been my dream to make a living off my music and be surrounded by music always. When I was about 5 I attended singing and dance lessons at Johnny Young Talent School and was involved in quite a few concerts from then on. In 2010 I did my Cert III in music and performance and started performing at various venues in Geelong. After I graduated high school in 2011 I fell into full time work and unfortunately my music wasn’t really a huge focus of mine but in 2016 I really started taking my music a bit more seriously by writing my own material and collaborating with others. This year I took the plunge to really follow my dream. I now attend Oxygen College and now I spend majority of my time creating music and being surrounded my music. I couldn’t be happier. Exciting times ahead.

As an artist, what is your biggest strength? And what is something you need to improve?

I feel like my biggest strength, as an artist would be my voice and my stage presence. I feel as though I need to improve on a lot of other elements such as my instrumental skills and my knowledge of music theory.

Do you write your own music, tell us about your writing process? Where, when, with what?

I have been writing my own music for just over a year now. I don’t have a process that I always use when writing so it depends. Sometimes I come up with a melody first or other times I just have a topic or something in my head that I really want to get down and express.

Name one person in your life that shaped your musical interests and influences and describe how so..

My mother, my younger sister and my brother have helped shape my musical interests. There have also been various artists that have really inspired me along the way. I always looked at well-known artists on TV and the radio and thought how amazing it would be to be recognized and appreciated for you own creative work.

You can colab with one musician dead or alive, who is it?

Beyoncé’ or Jhene’ Aiko would be my top two picks. Beyoncé’ is such a powerful and strong woman in all aspects, on and off stage. I just love what she is about. Not to mention her incredible talent. I love Jhene’ Aiko, her vibe is so chill. She seems so effortless in what she does yet I love all her stuff. Collabing with either would be an absolute dream come true.

Finish this paragraph ‘In an ideal world in 10 years I am…

In an ideal world in 10 years I will be making a substantial living from the music I create. I will be touring with my music and still be making new music that people will enjoy.
